Twitter

I talked about social networking in my last post and I wanted to focus in on my personal favorite so far Twitter.Twitter Logo

I like twitter for a lot of reasons.  First, the simplicity is just beyond imaginable; especially with technology today.  I know behind the scenes that twitter is all sorts of complex, but the interface and the actual act of updating and staying in touch is drop dead simple.  Plus, the bonus factor is that I can put their little twitter “badge” on just about any web site at any time, update my facebook simultaneously, etc, etc.  For example, I can send a text message (140 characters or less) to 40404 and that message becomes my twitter update & my facebook update.  I never had to logon to a website or anything else and I just updated both; how easy is that?  I guess that is why I like it so much.  I could also have all my updates sent to my phone.

I know people have all sorts of devices they carry around these days…ipod, zune, blackberry, palm pilots, etc.  We have all of these different devices that we carry around for all sorts of purposes.  Here is my problem…I don’t want to carry all that crap around.  I want ONE device that does it all, and eventually, my phone is going to do that.  Actually, the LG VU phone that I currently use, allows me to browser the web, check/send email, text, voice, photos, play music, etc.  That uber device probably exists already so I still haven’t figured out why people want all of these other devices.

Now, back to Twitter, since I use my phone for everything anyways…why not use it to easily update my social networks?  Well, with Twitter, it’s really just as easy as sending a text.  Give it a shot
