Here we go again…How many years are we going to have to debate this topic? It is obviously playing out that this year will be no different with so many 1 loss teams in the top 25 and most of the undefeated teams crossing paths very soon. The six different computer rankings and polls/votes are ridiculous. Don’t get me started on the BCS automatic qualification rules either. Or the absurd 12th game the NCAA included a few years ago.

Here is the solution. You get rid of the 12th game that was recently added. You use that time saved to bump up the conference championship schedules; effectively adding a week to your season. Then, you play the first week of the playoffs with your top 8 teams. The second week of the playoffs, with the remaining four teams, will play the following week. Finally, you have your national championship matchup set.

We have the top 8 battling it out and only 2 teams play one more game then they currently play this season. And, with all the dead time between the last regular season game and the title game, this shouldn’t be a problem. Plus, you can still have your bowl games and all the necessary money for sponsorship, etc. The “playoff” games can have names and money associated like the current Fiesta Bowl, Orange Bowl, etc. Any other team not in the playoff mix can go play in the Chik-fil-a bowl, or whatever, like usual.
