I’ve been doing a lot of reading on this topic in light of the events in Paris. I even read a few bits of the Quran at lunch today. I’m posting a collection of really good articles in the comments but this one was right to the two main points I’ve seen a lot of discussion about the last few days.

First….

“Brennan called the Islamic State, also known by the acronyms ISIS and ISIL, ‘an organization of murderous sociopaths’ with a nihilistic and ‘criminally depraved’ agenda to simply kill others under ‘religious pretense.’”

Basically they’re using religion in a false manner to justify killing people. Please remember that as we talk about Muslims and Islam as a religion.

Second….

Brennan went on to describe how sealing borders was unsustainable for social, political, economic, and cultural reasons.

This is another key thing to remember when we discuss building walls, refusing refugees, immigration, etc, etc.
