Roberto Clemente

“Well, I said to myself, there’s a boy who can do two things as well as any man who ever lived,” said Dodgers scout Clyde Sukeforth. “Nobody could throw any better than that, and nobody could run any better than that.”

Clemente was an even better person. He died on this day in 1972 delivering earthquake relief supplies. MLB has a prestigious award in his honor of on and off the field contributions by players. I would’ve loved to see his cannon in right field.
