Frank Jobe

He didn’t get the surgery named after him (the player he operated on did), but a true pioneer in medicine. In the words of Orel Hershiser, Dr. Frank Jobe “may have touched more wins and saves than anyone in baseball.”

He’s saved multiple St. Louis Cardinal pitchers, Chris Carpenter and Adam Wainwright, just to name a few. No matter what team you root for his surgery probably affected your team in some capacity.

He’s also a WWII veteran who was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. Fascinating life he led indeed.
