Well, I’ve finally decided to migrate my personal site from WordPress to Drupal. I love WordPress, and I’m going to continue using it as a platform for various projects. I actually have it running on several other projects at the moment so there is no reason to continue to use it for my personal site.
When I initially decided to put my personal and professional sites into a CMS, I decided to do one in Drupal and one in WordPress. I wanted to have the ability and experience to build sites in both if necessary; for work or personal projects. At the time, I didn’t have too many other projects in the queue, so it was a good idea. However, now that I have several projects using WordPress, there really isn’t a point for separation of my two sites.
I’m going to roll my sites into one Drupal code base to ease the updating process. I’ve really been chomping at the bit to do this ever since I started using Drush & Drupal in a multi-site configuration. Drush is SOOOO gravy. I thought updating a WordPress site was easy…then I used Drush.
Along with the change in systems, which most people won’t even notice (or care about), I’ll be rolling a new theme/look for my personal site. I’ll be putting some of my mad Drupal skills to work to improve the look and functionality of the site.
What does all this mean to anyone who actually visits this site? Well, it means you may experience some issues as I make the migration; so please bear with me. I’ll be sure to post updates here as I can, but if all else fails, check my professional site for details. Plus, I’ll be sure to post the uber-nerdy tech-related bits there as well.
