I finished reading the first Game of Thrones book last week (I know, way behind). I am halfway through season 1 of the show, and I think it’s terrible compared to the books.

Does it get better? Should I stick to the books or just watch the show? I know the show is ahead of the books now so it’s in a weird place. Side note: calling Martin the “American Tolkien” is a joke.
