I think there are some pretty good suggestions in this Time magazine article. I’ve made the switch to diet, but need to cut it out completely. I’m slowly getting my homemade iced coffee down so I can use that to cut into my soda intake. I might have to walk around like Uncle Si with a jug of unsweetened tea to totally kick my soda habit. Ironically, I was sipping a soda while I read this article!
Part of my problem is I drink a ton of fluids throughout the day. I practically need to carry a half gallon jug of water to get by. And, I love drinking water, but I DESPISE paying double or triple the cost for bottled (which is glorified tap) water over soda.
Plus, I eventually need some flavor, so that may be where the tea comes into play. I can make a ton of tea for cheap and throw it in a water bottle/jug.
I also think the carbonation/fizz is what I crave. That’s why I thought some of these ideas were good. They had some suggestions on how to try alleviate the fizz craving.
